We started off Friday with Cougar Run, the annual bike ride that the elementary students do to raise money. About a month and a half ago Ave sent out letters to family and friends asking for donations for her school. Then, on Friday they ride their bikes around a track. The bikes are decorated by the students and it creates a parade-like atmosphere. She didn't win any prizes, but we thought she did a super job on her decorations and we were SO proud that she rode on two wheels (most Kindergarteners were still using training wheels)
she decided on a "fall" theme while we were looking around Michael's...she was right, it turned out beautiful!
even put flowers on her helmet!
she decorated from wheel to wheel!
one proud rider!
yes, I helped (even if that meant just not pulling anything off!!)
Then on Saturday the school continued its festivities with a school-wide carnival. It was SO great...they had all of the traditional carnival games set up for the kids and of course all of the great food There was a bounce house, face painting, hair painting, candy, balloons, a dunk tank, fishing pond, jail (to lock up friends), putt putt golf, cake walk, toy walk, and zillions of other games! it was great and we all had so much fun. Avery even hit the dunk tank bullseye, not hard enough to make the teacher fall in the water though so the lady running the booth let her walk up and push it! He fell in of course and she got splashed....she was SOOOO excited, it was priceless! And of course, Lincoln won the cake walk first try, but picked the only not totally baked cake there...which was gross, so I had to pick up replacement cupcakes on the way home!
it's hard work to be the little brother with so much excitement going on!
SUNDAY:
to round out the weekend full of fall fun, we took a walk at a local park and had a picnic lunch. then, just as we were finishing up and ready to head home, the big kids went to play on the playset. Lincoln no sooner got up the steps reached up to ring a bell, and was stung on his little thumb be a bee! poor guy, swelled up like crazy and hurt so bad :( we went home, but everyone was still excited about the picnic...even Linc cheered up when we told him he killed the bee (we were pretty sure of this since Kevin had to pull the stinger out of his finger) Now he tells everyone the story of how HE killed a bee so that it wouldn't get the other kids!
